Vendor
Information |
| |
|
| |
I'm
interested in becoming a vendor at your swap meet. What's
the first thing I should do? |
| |
|
| |
The
first thing you should do is obtain a
California State
Board of Equalization
Resale Permit, with
our address on it.
Our address is:
Los
Angeles City College Swap Meet
4133 Marathon Street
Los Angeles, California 90017
A State
Board of Equalization Permit may be obtained at no cost
from any State Board of Equalization office. The nearest
one to us is at:
5901
Green Valley Circle
P.O. Box 3652
Culver City, California 90231-3652
(310) 342-1000
|
| |
Okay,
I've got my permit. What's next? |
| |
|
| |
Spaces are
sold in person, at the event. Be sure to bring the above
mentioned State Board Permit along with a valid, picture
ID. Spaces first go on sale one week in advance. However, if
you wish you can often purchase your space as late as the morning
of the event.
The entire swap meet is reserved but spaces are often available.
If a reserve vendor, for whatever reason, decides not to use his/her
space it goes up for bid.
There are two bids. The first is a week earlier, at 3:30 pm the previous
Sunday. These are for spaces the Reserve
Vendor is not going to use the following Sunday.
The bid starts at $75.00 and increases in $5.00
increments. It's
an open bid and whoever bids the highest amount gets the space for the
next Sunday.
The other bid is that Sunday morning, the day of the event you must
attend a bid at 8:05 am. The bid starts at $75.00
and increases in $5.00 increments. Assuming a
vendor who already has purchased a space doesn't show up, this space,
(or spaces) goes up for bid. Again, the vendor who bids the highest
amount is the one who is sold that space for that day.
Often times these bids fetch prices of $100.00 - $150.00 dollars each,
just for the right to be able to sell that one day!
If you would like to become a monthly reserve
vendor, you must attend a bid the last Sunday of
each month at 4:00 pm. |
